LAKEWOOD, California — Authorities and family members are urgently searching for a 71-year-old Southern California woman who has been missing for several days after she was seen leaving her assisted living facility and getting into a vehicle driven by an unknown person.
Gwendolyn Clarrett was reported missing on July 18, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD). Investigators say she was last seen around 10:47 a.m. leaving an assisted living facility in Lakewood before entering a white Kia Forte sedan as a passenger. The identity of the driver remains unknown.
Woman Vanished After Entering Unknown Vehicle
Authorities said Clarrett has not been seen or heard from since she entered the vehicle, and it remains unclear where she intended to go. Detectives are working to determine who was driving the sedan and where it traveled after leaving the facility.
“Neither facility workers nor her loved ones have heard from her since, and they are concerned for her well-being,” the sheriff’s department said in its missing person alert.
Investigators have not released additional details about the driver or whether surveillance footage has provided new leads.
Medical Conditions Raise Concern
The sheriff’s department considers Clarrett an at-risk missing person because she has medical and mental health conditions that may place her in danger.
She is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 135 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt with a green-and-white coat.
Authorities are asking the public to remain alert and report any possible sightings immediately, emphasizing that locating Clarrett safely remains the highest priority.
