A quiet residential block in Crown Point, Indiana turned into the scene of an active police investigation on Wednesday morning after a 14-year-old girl was discovered dead inside a hot tub at a private residence.
According to the Crown Point Police Department, officers were dispatched just before 8:30 a.m. to a home in the 1000 block of East Greenwood Avenue after a caller reported an unresponsive juvenile submerged in the tub. Responding officers arrived within minutes, followed closely by units from the Crown Point Fire Department, who immediately began emergency life-saving measures at the scene.
Despite the efforts of first responders, the teenager could not be revived on-site. She was rushed to Franciscan Health Crown Point, one of the region’s primary emergency care facilities, where medical staff continued treatment. She was pronounced dead a short time later.
As of Wednesday afternoon, authorities had not released the identity of the victim, and it remains unclear whether notification of next of kin was still underway or being withheld pending further investigation.
Investigators have not disclosed what led to the teen’s death, and no official cause has been confirmed. It is not yet known whether the incident is being treated as accidental, medical in nature, or something requiring further forensic review. Crown Point police have stated only that the case remains under active investigation, and additional details are expected to be released as they become available.
The residence where the incident occurred has not been publicly identified beyond the general block location, and it is unclear whether the home belongs to the victim’s family or another party.
