13-Year-Old Girl Vanishes from Georgia Home Overnight, AMBER Alert Issued as Police Search for Suspect

Baxley, Georgia — Authorities are urgently searching for a 13-year-old Georgia girl after issuing an AMBER Alert, warning that she is believed to be in “extreme danger” following an alleged abduction from her home.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) issued a Levi’s Call on Thursday, July 16, asking the public to help locate Layla Alexis Nubian Carter, who was last seen during the early morning hours in Baxley.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding her disappearance as law enforcement agencies continue searching for the missing teenager.

Teen Last Seen Leaving Home Early Thursday

According to authorities, Layla was last seen around 1 a.m. Thursday at a residence on James Drive in Baxley.

Investigators believe she left the home with Giavannie Alexis Carter, 32, and the two were reportedly traveling together in a gray Jeep Renegade displaying Georgia license plate SLU9322.

Officials have not publicly disclosed the nature of the relationship between Layla and the adult woman or the circumstances that led to the alleged abduction.

The investigation remains active as officers attempt to locate both individuals.

Authorities Release Description of Missing Teen

The GBI said Layla has blonde braided hair and was last seen wearing a T-shirt and pajama bottoms.

According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Layla has brown eyes, stands approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, and weighs about 100 pounds.

Authorities described Giavannie Alexis Carter as having black braided hair. She was reportedly wearing a gray-and-white tank top, black shorts, and a black baseball cap with blue trim when last seen.

Officials said Carter is approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs around 140 pounds.

Officials Warn Teen May Be in ‘Extreme Danger’

The emergency alert issued by the GBI states that Layla is believed to be in extreme danger, prompting authorities to seek immediate public assistance.

Investigators are asking residents throughout Georgia and neighboring areas to remain alert for the gray Jeep Renegade or anyone matching the descriptions released by law enforcement.

Authorities have not released additional details explaining why they believe the teenager is at immediate risk.

Public Asked to Report Any Information Immediately

Law enforcement officials are urging anyone who may have seen Layla, the suspected vehicle, or has information that could assist investigators to contact authorities without delay.
