Horse Gulch Road gets new road base of dirt smoothed out by county’s equipment

This was one of three unreadable messages with missing letters that was flashing across this sign on Tuesday afternoon.

This sign at the Horse Gulch trailhead is unreadable due to a heavy glare across it, burned out lights inside the electronic sign, and the angle in which it faces people in the parking lot.
I’m not sure I understand how soft dirt is going to last through a heavy rainstorm or two. Looks like it will be a huge mud issue for riders as well. I think it was better when it was all jacked up!

That road is unsustainable being in the bottom of a narrow canyon. Right now it is a huge mud issue, but then again, they still have the next couple of days to keep working on it, so we’ll see what happens. Hopefully it will be a lot more rider friendly once all of that new dirt gets packed down.
