GNC Pro Performance AMP Amplified Recover, Concentrated Intelligent Release mixes as well as dirt, but tastes great!

Next time you are looking for a recovery drink that leaves chunks of undissolved powder in your mouth, yet tastes great, then look no further. GNC Pro Performance Amplified Recover with Concentrated Intelligent Release is the product for you!

Offering an immediate and 6-hour amino acid release, you can be assured that after 6 hours, you’ll be glad that the texture of dirt is finally gone from the inside of your mouth.

This product contains dubious ingredients such as hydrogenated vegetable oils and FD&C Red #40. If you love heart disease, you’ll love hydrogenated vegetable oils!

Did I recover more quickly because I used Amplified Recover? I couldn’t tell you, because I got up and did all of the things that I normally do the next day.

For this blogger, the watermelon flavor tasted nothing like watermelon. The citric acid and Sicilian Blood Orange Fruit and Peel Extract did give it a bit of a sour citric flavor, though.

To give it a sweet taste, they added Sucralose as a sweetener. Sweet tastes always make the texture of dirt in my mouth so much more tolerable.

Thank you, GNC!

  1. You do know that hydrogenated vegetable oil and FD&C Red #40 are both very bad for your health, especially the food coloring as it has been linked to various cancers and brain disorders? This product is full of so many chemicals and hexane-heat derived substances, that it should be labeled as a carcinogen. I can’t believe a seemingly intelligent blogger is not aware of this. Pretty much everything sold at GNC does more harm to the body than it helps. Please enlighten yourself Adam, you only get one body and you are poisoning yours.

Really Good article that covers both hydrogenated veg oil and food colorings:

  2. My post was meant to be sarcastic about the value of this product.

Yes, you are right, I should have read the other ingredients. Yes, I know that hydrogenated oils are bad for us. No, I did not see that ingredient on the list until just now. No, I will never buy this product again.

Thanks for the link on hydrogenated oils and food colorings!

  3. Mark,
Could you please forward some credible sources that describe what hexane-heat derived substances are, exactly? I have no idea what that is, and I’m guessing that it would be a hard topic to research.
    Thanks,
    Adam

  4. Mark,

I also want to tell you that I have no idea how the amino acid ingredients in this product are derived, but I’m willing to play guinea pig with some of GNC’s products just to see how my body reacts.

You are totally correct that I am poisoning myself with some of the ingredients found in their products.

I’m hoping to learn more about it and share that information with others.
