Several prominent corporations with a presence in Durango, Colorado have contributed to the campaign that’s against marijuana legalization in Arizona.

In Durango, these corporations have a physical presence and/or a customer base that’s interested to know if their purchases are indirectly funding a marijuana prohibition campaign against the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, also known as Yes on 205.

Among the prohibitionist corporations that donated to the campaign against Proposition 205 were Discount Tire, which donated $1,000,000 dollars, while Uhaul donated $35,000 dollars, Insys Therapeutics donated $500,000 dollars, Blue Cross Blue Shield donated $5,000 dollars, Western Refining donated $10,000 dollars and the Arizona Republican Party donated $10,285 dollars.

Of those prohibitionists, Western Refining is a company that has a retail presence at three gas stations in Durango, while Insys Therapeutics is a pharmaceutical company whose main product is an opiate-based painkiller. Both companies have publicly-traded stock on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, respectively.

In contrast, proponents of Yes on 205 have raised $3.18 million dollars compared to its opponent’s $1.85 million dollars, according to Arizona’s Secretary of State filing documents.

The Marijuana Policy Project and Arizona Grass Roots Dispensary are some of the donors to the Arizona Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, in addition to Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps.
