Sign this compiled-signature petition resisting closure of two user-built mountain bike trails

On a map of trails that the City of Durango most recently has slated for closure in the final draft of the Natural Surface Trails Analysis Report, at least two are worth asking them to save.

A freerider hitting a jump on the Dalla Mountain Freeride Trail. Don't let the City of Durango destroy this trail!

A freerider hitting a jump on the Dalla Mountain Freeride Trail. Don’t let the City of Durango destroy this trail!

Those include the Kitty Charmer Trail on Raiders Ridge by Horse Gulch, and the Phoenix Trail, aka the Dalla Mountain Freeride Trail. They’re both ridden primarily by mountain bikers, and they both are extremely popular for their naturally rocky terrain, drops and jumps.

Your signature is needed to voice opposition to these proposed trail closures and the loaded terminology used in the City’s draft Report, which uses subjective terms such as “damaged resources,” “habitat fragmentation,” “resource degradation,” and “soil erosion,” to name a few that have not been tested and have no scientific basis.

Once you submit your signature, the signatures get compiled, and then they all get delivered at once on April 30, 2015, the last day that the City is taking public comments on the new draft Report.

Check your email inbox after you sign the petition to click on the verification email. If the verification email does not show up in your inbox, check your spam folder just in case it got misclassified.

Please take action today!

  1. Thank you! Can you bring a sign sheet petition in to the bike shops??

  2. You are welcome! My free time is stretched thin outside of my regular work schedule, so I can’t guarantee anything right now. People can send their more detailed comments to rec@durangogov.org. Anyone willing to help can print the wording of my petition out and use as their own without attribution.

  5. Douglas,
You’ve typed in your email address the wrong way. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it should be spelled dugwall@hotmail.com. As it is, you have it spelled dugwall@hotmal.com. After you type in the fields with the correct spelling of your email address, go to your email about five or ten minutes later and confirm your email address through the email that my blog sends you.
    Best,
    Adam

  6. I just tried to sign it again and it says my email has already been used.

  7. On the dashboard of my blog I saw your signature, and it said it was not confirmed, meaning that you had not seen the email that my blog sent to your email inbox asking for your confirmation. What this means is that the confirmation email probably went into your spam folder. Instead of going back and looking through all of those ridiculous spam messages, I recommend trying to sign the petition again, and then looking in your email inbox and spam folder immediately. I deleted your last signature, so my blog should accept your signature again if you give it a try. Sorry for the technical difficulties, Neil. I think that the confirmation email probably ends up in a lot of people’s spam folders without them knowing it. Best of luck!
